The 3-Part YouTube Business Model
You don’t necessarily need millions of subscribers to build a sustainable YouTube business. A simpler approach combines YouTube, email and one strong offer.
The 3-part model
- YouTube: Publish useful long-form videos consistently around a specific problem or transformation.
- Email: Turn viewers into email subscribers using newsletters or useful free resources.
- Offer: Sell one focused product or service that helps your audience achieve the desired result.
Audience size determines the offer
| Audience | Suggested approach |
|---|---|
| <100K monthly views + <10K email subscribers | Higher-priced offer, typically $1,000+ |
| 100K+ monthly views + 10K+ email subscribers | Lower-priced products become more viable |
For smaller audiences, examples include coaching, group programs or services. Larger audiences can support courses, communities or workshops, with roughly $300+ customer lifetime value suggested as a useful benchmark.
The core principle is focus: create valuable videos → build an email list → sell one compelling offer. Advertising, sponsorships and affiliates can provide additional income, but need not be the foundation.
